GROUP HEAD, BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

Faronbi Olundare holds a Higher National Diploma in Accountancy from Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro Ogun State. He qualified as an Associate Chartered Accountant of Nigeria in 1992 and obtained a Master Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Lagos State University in 1998.

He started his banking career in August 1992 with Equity Bank of Nigeria Limited (now Intercontinental Bank Plc) with in-depth knowledge of banking operations. He was customer relations officer, treasury officer, cash officer and back office operations officer for couple of years. He had a stint in Strategic planning department in May 1996 and Corporate banking group in 1998, where he was an effective teem player that help to turn the group into profitability. The group got several commendations from the bank’s management for outstanding performances. He worked as a pioneer staff at the Apapa branch of Equity Bank and later joined City Express Bank Plc in October 2000 as the pioneer branch manager of Apapa branch. His performance at the branch contributed greatly to the bank’s balance sheet, profitability and its clientele base. He also functioned in various capacities at the bank which includes; Group Head, International Operation, Manager, Corporate Branch (Victoria Island) with responsibility for his branch and 2 other cash centres. He became the Divisional Head, Lagos/West of the bank with responsibility to oversee all branches in the division. He was appointed the Managing Director of a Savings and Loans Bank in Ghana in 2004 and resigned in March 2006, to start his consultancy and other private business. He joined GS MicroFinance Bank Limited as a Deputy Vice President in March 2009 to chart the business development focus of the bank.

Mr. Faronbi is a hard working and passionate banker with excellent relationship management skills, has a commendable client base and has a good understanding of the business terrain in Nigeria. He is well traveled and has commensurate training and exposure. He is married with 3 children.
